The connector has eight jumper pin pairs numbered 0 through 7. Each selection is made by placing a jumper across opposing pins. 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+J1 +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ +-------+--------------------------------------------------------+ |Jumper | Descriptions | +-------+--------------------------------------------------------+ | 0 | Device Address bit 0 | +-------+--------------------------------------------------------+ | 1 | Device Address bit 1 | +-------+--------------------------------------------------------+ | 2 | Device Address bit 2 | +-------+--------------------------------------------------------+ | 3 | Jumper in place enables automatic spin up when power | | | is applied. This means that the device address is present to 0. To alter the device address, use jumpers 0 through 2 according to the table below. (Active low, | | | |+5V, 24 ma). | +---+--------------+------------------------------------------------+ Remote Device Address Selection by SCSI Connector ------------------------------------------------- When all three jumpers (0-2) are left in place for ID=0, the drive will use any acitve encoded SCSI ID number on the vendor-specific conncetor at the rear of the drive. If there is not an active ID address on pins A5-A7, the drive will assume the ID is 0. Remote SCSI ID -------------- PINS | A7 A6 A5 | SCSI ID MSB LSB | --------------+-------- 1 1 1 | 0 1 1 0 | 1 1 0 1 | 2 1 0 0 | 3 0 1 1 | 4 0 1 0 | 5 0 0 1 | 6 0 0 0 | 7 1 = TTL high 0 = TTL low Activity LED Signal ------------------- There is not a Light Emitting Diode (LED) located on the drive. However, the Activity LED signal on pin A8 of the vendor-specific portion of the SCSI connector may be used to drive an external LED. When the LED is on, it indicates the drive is processing SCSI commands from the host. SCSI Terminators ---------------- The DSP2022S drive does not have SCSI bus termination on it. Bus termination is must be accomplished externally. If you leave jumper 7 in place, the drive will supply power for bus termination through the SCSI cable pin 24. Remove this jumper if you do not need this cable termination power from the drive. Termination is needed only at the ENDS of the SCSI bus. It consists of two rows of 25 pins on 2 mm centers. SCSI Interface Cable -------------------- A standard 0.1 inch SCSI flat ribbon cable may be attached to the drive through an adapter made by 2.5 inch disk drive vendors. A 1 mm flat ribbon cable may also be used with a suitable 2 x 25, 2 mm IDC connector (e.g. Molex 87259-5016). Use the 1 mm cable with the following caution. CAUTION It is recommended that only one disk drive be powered from a given segment of 1 mm cable.
