Power Requirements ================== Power connector pin assignment: 4 3 2 1 (As viewed from cable side of connector) 1 + 12 V 2 + 12 V RTN 3 + 5 V RTN 4 + 5 V Notes on Installation ===================== Installation direction: The drive may be installed either PCA down or on edge. Inclination from vertical should be less than 5*. Mounting screws: Either side or underside mounting may be used. Standard drive use M3 screws but some special models and US versions use 6/32 UNC. Screws should not protrude from the drive frame by more than 3mm or damage may occur. Frame clearance: There should be a gap of at least 2.5mm between the drive and the system mounting frame on all sides to provide adequate sway space for shock protection. Grounding: It is strongly recommended that the Disk Enclosure is connected to the system frame ground via the 'faston' connector on the back of the drive. Cooling: Cooling should be provided to keep the DE surface temperature (measured at the centre of the top of the drive) below 55*C. ********************************************************************** F E A T U R E S ********************************************************************** FUJITSU M2652P NOTES ON INSTALLATION Media Defects ============ Media Defect List: Before the unit leaves the factory, media defects are listed on the MEDIA DEFECT LIST. This list is attached to the Disk Enclosure and is also written on the media in a reserved area of the disk. NOTE 1: It is recommended that the media defect list be used when formatting the drive before use. Any media defects that occur once the drive is installed may be mapped out by the operating system. See system documentation for details of the defect management schemes available. Note 1 : Max. media defects at time of shipment: M2652P, 600 or less Note 2 : No track has more than 4 defects. Note 3 : Cylinder 0 heads 0 - 2 and cylinder 1892 head 19 are defect free areas. ********************************************************************** G E N E R A L ********************************************************************** FUJITSU => GDT Tips & Hints about ICP controllers and other peripherals ======================================================== Tagged queues and Fujitsu M 26xx harddisks ------------------------------------------ Fujitsu Harddisks of the M26XX series do not support the SCSI-II feature tagged queues. You should disable this feature in the initialize disks menue of the GDTSetup program. An inquiry command shows, that the harddisk supports tagged queues (this is why you can enable it in the GDTSetup) but this is not true as stated by Fujitsu Germany.
